I became a mom 20 years ago, and soon afterwards realized that to be a good mom I could not be an artist at the same time. Maybe some women can pull that off, but not me - A full time job and being a mom and wife meant I did not have the blocks of time necessary to be creative. I don't regret taking those years off from art, because my children are the most important thing I've done with my life. But now I've reached the golden time where my kids are mostly grown, my spouse is mature enough to enthusiastically support my artistic endeavors, and we are financially able for me to buy myself art supplies :)  I hope that there are other artists o

So after enduring months of pain, the verdict is tendinitis (not arthritis, whew!) which means wearing a thumb brace for a month. Last night I went to figure drawing class and tried out using my left hand and it's actually a bit liberating - much looser style, and it's good for me to approach things in a completely different way. I won't be able to work on my current project (more teeny tiny words) until I'm healed up, so I guess I'll be embarking on something new and different.
